RUF Fall Conference ‘11

If you didn’t go, you missed out on an incredible time! I met so many people I didn’t know came to Auburn’s RUF. It was a time of spiritual growth, rejuvenation, and peace. I’m sad to come back. I think that those times where we get away and learn more about God, have incredible worship and fellowship with other believers is just a little taste of heaven.

I pray that God gives me strength to rely and trust in Him throughout the school year, and that I would focus on Him in midst of all this work. Being with all those believers and in incredible fellowship makes me yearn for the day the Lord returns!

It’s been a while.

I guess the title says it all. I’ve been extremely busy over the past few weeks. I’m taking 18 hours, and am in 4 ensembles. Maybe i’ll get some time here and there, but that time is dedicated to studying/practicing. Here are some quick notes on my life recently:

  • I’m stressing out a good half of my day about various things.
  • BUT I feel like I’ve grown so much closer to God since being back in AU, and the cool thing is, I desire to grow even closer! I haven’t had this desire before like this.
  • I’m having to trust God on a daily basis (literally) there are little things every day that I have to just look up at the sky and say “Ok, God, i’m trusting you on this one.”
  • I saw the musical Les Miserables yesterday with part of my family. It was incredible. I really want the soundtrack now.

I’m ready for RUF Fall Conference. I’ve never been before, but I have heard it’s really fun.

Well I guess that’s all for now. I have to go practice some conducting. I’m really tired but gotta get some practice in before tomorrow.  If anyone still reads this i’ll leave you with a verse.

PSALM 91:1-2 “HE WHO DWELLS IN THE SHELTER OF THE MOST HIGH WILL REST IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. I WILL SAY OF THE LORD, ‘HE IS MY REFUGE AND MY FORTRESS, MY GOD, IN WHOM I TRUST.’”

Worship

Hello to all of my followers! I was curious as to what everyone’s favorite worship songs are? I am leading worship for our youth group next week and was wondering what everyone’s favorite praise songs were, so I can get an idea of what to play. Of course I have my favorites (It is Well With My Soul, On Jordan’s Stormy Banks I Stand) but what are ya’lls?

National Man Day

What better way to spend National Man Day than playing shirtless airsoft with our youth pastor and a few guys from our youth group! Great time had by all, and a few battle scars!

Just got this book the other day! John Piper is an incredible theologian. We are using this book in Thursday night college bible study. It really is an incredible book. I can’t wait to delve into it further with my fellow college students

Great WWII movie! I normally don’t watch army movies, but our Youth Pastor recommended it. I have to say I really enjoyed it!

Summer

Well I have to say this summer has been more than I expected. I went to the beach, followed by our youth lake retreat, followed by our church’s VBS (Vacation Bible School) Tomorrow’s agenda is ultimate at 5 followed by the ultimate banquet. Next week i’ll work with my Dad on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday night is our youth guy’s bible study. The study is going to be how to be a man in God’s eyes. We’ll study war heroes such as Grant, Lee, and “Stonewall” Jackson. I’m really excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of the men in our youth group as well as what He will do in my life. After bible study all the guys will play airsoft.

So as you can see, my summer has been anything but boring. I’m constantly doing things, and have much more ahead. At the beginning of the summer, I was very worried about being bored all the time considering I don’t have a job, but God answered my prayers in a different way. I’m constantly praying for a desire for Him and for what He wants in my life. I love the guys in our youth group. They are godly young men, and I believe God wants me to minister to them as I continue to grow in my relationship with Him. I’m sad to say that I wish youth was what it was for me like it is for these guys, but i’m glad to be there for them.

Further updates will come when I get the time. I am SO thankful to God for giving me opportunities to always be doing something. I hate sitting around the house. Hopefully this summer will be constantly busy for me, and I pray that I continue to grow in my relationship with the one who made me, and spread that love to the young men around me.
